Born on 4th December, 1959, Shri Chamola hails from Uttarakhand and did his Post Graduation in MA (Economics) from Garhwal University; LLB from APS University; and MBA (HRM) from IGNOU. He started his career as an Executive Trainee in NTPC in 1982 and left Singrauli Super Thermal Power Station (NTPC) as Deputy Manager (Personnel). He joined SJVN as Manager (P&A) in 1992 and reached the level of Chief Manager (P&A). He joined HAL in 1996 as Deputy General Manager (HR) at Engine Division (BC) and later moved as Addl General Manager (P&A) at Bangalore Complex and to Corporate Office as Offg. General Manager. He was with BEML as Chief General Manager (HR) before joining HAL as Director (Human Resources).
His expertise includes Industrial Relations, HR Interventions & Manpower Planning. Some of the outstanding achievements to his credit other than in HAL are (a) formulating the Employees Voluntary Benevolent Fund Scheme in NTPC / SSTPS providing for an immediate relief of Rs. 1 lakh to the deceased employees in NTPC in the year 1987-88; (b) building a Corpus Fund under Himachal Pradesh Human Rights Commission for providing medical help to the incapacitated Contract Labour working with SJVN in the year 1994; (c) accomplishment of the impossible task of arranging boarding & lodging for 130 employees of SJVN within a span of 24 hours in 1995; and (d) playing a pivotal role in HR Policy formulation in BEML which to a great extent checked executive attrition at critical levels as also building a robust Performance Appraisal System.
He was conferred “Chanakya Award” for Business Excellence in HR on 12th Feb 2012 by the Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) during its Annual Conclave at Bombay in Feb 2012.
During December 2012, he has been conferred with “HR Leadership Award” at the India Human Capital Award Summit by Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad. He was conferred with “BT Star PSU Director-HR of the year Award 2015” on 1st June, 2015.
